It was 1978 when Gerry started out in printing, doing order-entry at a continuous business form manufacturer. He learned by watching the 2 color rotary-web presses in the factory and by listening to “business talk” in the office. Soon he moved up to cost estimator, then was promoted to production manager, where his responsibilities included estimating, purchasing, scheduling.
That was in the days when touch-dial phones, desk-top copiers and fax machines were new – no one had computers! 15 years later, like many small printing companies without new technology or a diversified product line, his old company could not keep up with the changing market and closed its doors.
When Gerry returned to printing by joining King in 1996, things had changed; he quickly found himself working on sophisticated systems with constantly updated software. He’s seen technology change from hand-set artwork shot in horizontal cameras, to computer-to-plate output. He’s now helping King progress into variable data printing.
Gerry’s work includes preparing orders for production and working with our customers to understand their needs and advise them on their projects, relying on his many years of production experience and knowhow.
Gerry holds a B.B.A from Iona College in Marketing-Management. In his free time, he collects old toy cars - diecast metal and plastic.
